Reality Checklist: Are You Making Meaning? | OPEN Forum

A great article by Guy Kawasaki about the value of making meaning. In this short article Guy argues that companies should focus on making meaning and not focusing on making profits, as the latter attracts people with the wrong mindset, that of a quick buck and name to put on their CV.
In short, Guy describes four primary ways to make meaning:
1. Enable people to do things they could not do before;
2. Enable people to do things they were already doing but now in a much better way;
3. End bad things like violence, pollution, oppression and evil; and
4. Perpetuate good things that foster emotions such as joy, mastery and fun.
By making meaning Guy argues that contrary to popular belief you won't be stuck in poverty but rather you'll be making money, a natural consequence of making meaning.
A good read and something all of us should ask of ourselves and of the companies we work for.
